This is a real review. I know when I saw some of the reviews I wondered if they were by real people. I really purchased this item and had it sent to me here in Oakland, CA. That's near San Francisco.
I purchased a 1b, 18 inch, italian yaki, glueless lace wig with dark brown lace.
Here is my review
PRO's:
- The hair is beautiful. It really matches blow dried natural 4b/4a hair.
-The hairline isn't boxed shape and has adequate baby hair. I don't use the hairline because it doesn't lay down at my hairline in a way that is convincing. However, I am able to show certain sections in downward styles, but not in a pulled back style.
- The color was 1b and not a 1b brown/2.
- I ordered the unit on Tuesday evening and received the unit Friday before noon.
-Winston was very helpful during the whole paypal and selection process.
CONS:
- The lace WAS NOT dark brown. It was cream. I am a dark skin woman. This was completely unacceptable and caused me a great inconvenience and frustrated me to no end. I had to figure out (thanks to youtube) how to dye the lace using tea (which still wasn't dark enough), then use foundation and hair spray to get it to a convincing color.
-The hair begin to shed as I was washing it. I had to rush to w=Walgreens to pick up Got2b Freeze hair spray to seal the knots. Thankfully youtube helped me figure that portion out.
- The hair clips are very damaging to the hair line. The hair clips constantly snipped and snapped my fragile natural hair line. By the second wear I had removed ALL of the clips and sewn in an elastic band (The Tootsie Mom's Method) and this has saved the wig.
-I have to use bobby pins to keep the sides down an the back down.
-Wig does not hold a curl. I knew this. I roller set the hair and the curls were well formed and tight, within an hour the curls had dropped from chin length to arm pit length. 3 days later the hair still has a loose wave to it..which works, but not the wig if you want to really hold curls or have directional curly/waves.
The lace not being dark brown, almost ruined this whole wig. However, after spending sooo much money on my first wig, I was determined to make it work. It took about 17 hours and about $25 dollars just to get the wig on my head and an additional $60 to get the wig to curl, because I had to by setting lotion and a hooded dryer.
Next time when I buy a wig, I will get a silk top. The lace is ok, but I think the silk top would have made parting a lot more convincing. However, I couldn't take a cream silk top. They would have to assure me it would be a dark brown silk top, if I were to purchase from Classiclacewigs again.
